Human genetics and bioinformatics: Jing Gong (http://gong_lab.hzau.edu.cn/gonglab#!/

Keywords: genetics, bioinformatics, and omics.

Research in human genetics and bioinformatics group is dedicated to deciphering the functions of human genetics using functional genomics, computational and statistical methods. The research contents involve genomic sequences and other post-genomic data, including both DNA and RNA sequences, protein profiling, and epigenetic profiling, in an ongoing effort to find hidden treasures.

Research interest

1. Development of computational tools and data resources for better deciphering the functions of human genetics. Over the past several years, we have integrated genomic data and multiple omics data to identify functional genetic variants and developed several popular bioinformatics tools and databases to share these results.

2. Integrative analysis of genomic data to find hidden treasures for cancer and complex diseases. Recent advances in genomic technologies and the ensuing deluge of genomic information have accelerated the convergence of discovery science with clinical medicine. We have performed the first global analysis of the functional and clinical relevance of snoRNAs in human cancer. We are working on identifying other early diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for various tumor types using high-throughput sequencing data.

3. Molecular epidemiological and biochemical approaches to investigate the associations between genetic variants and susceptibility to common cancers.
